| The
South West No 1 Branch of the CWU is pleased to announce the formation
of a Women's Branch Committee. There is now a strong Women's
section within the CWU headed up by the Women's Advisory Committee (WAC),
with strong links to the Equal Opportunities Committee.
There are many issues that have a very real affect on the working lives of women, to which the Women's section is committed:
There are also many national issues that the women's sector is involved in, such as, pension schemes, equal pay and abortion policies. The CWU Harassment Advisory Team was set up and is run by women for both men and women addressing issues on sexual discrimination and harassment of all forms. Women can, and do, make a difference and the stronger that the committees become at a local level, the louder our voice nationally. We need as many women as possible to join, or take an active role in the committee, from as many businesses within the CWU as possible. A time, date and venue of the first meeting will be announced soon, but if you are interested in becoming involved, or have a burning issue that you would like to discuss, we would like to hear from you. We are: Jo Batt, Jan Howard and Pauline Tully based at Exeter Mail Centre and also Linda Harris who can be contacted at Holsworthy PDO. |
